Status of Chancellor SearchJune 27 Update on UMKC Chancellor Search: The Chancellor Search Committee met on Tuesday, June 21, and evaluated candidates based on prior interviews and reference reports. The committee then further narrowed the candidate list and expressed confidence in the remaining pool. We have a group of successful and experienced administrators.
The search is on schedule, and although much work remains to be done, we expect to have a recommendation to President Floyd by Sept. 1, 2005.

KCUR Wins More Awards
UMKC's NPR affiliate, KCUR, recently won two first-place awards at the Missouri Broadcasters Association Annual Convention and Awards presentation in Kansas City. The competition pits KCUR against the legendary KMOX, in St. Louis and other notable stations in the state.
KCUR's new general assignment reporter, Maria Carter, won in the News Series category for feature stories covering the Missouri governor’s race. The stories were some of the first Maria did for KCUR after joining the staff last fall. News director Frank Morris won in the News Feature category with a story about a tiny Kansas town that lost two of its young men to fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In addition, Steve Bell took second place in the Sports category with a story about a blind man who, with his trained dog, is competitive in sheep herding contests.
Conservatory Student Wins Composer Competition
Conservatory composition student Narong Prangcharoen won the Pacific Symphony's American Composer Competition on May 26, 2005. The prize is a commission to write a new piece for the Pacific Symphony. Narong's new piece will be premiered in November 2005.
24 Student-Athletes Make Academic All Conference
Twenty-four UMKC student-athletes were recognized for their academic excellence as the Mid-Continent Conference announced its 2005 Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference teams June 13.
Among the Kangaroos being named to the list, one--women's tennis player Molli Boyd--has maintained a perfect 4.00 grade point average throughout her career. Boyd was one of eight student-athletes in the Mid-Con to maintain academic perfection.

Two UMKC alumnae were included in the Kansas City Business Journal's fifth annual listing of the top 25 area "Women Who Mean Business." UMKC Graduates are:

- Karen Daniel (M.S. Bloch '81), CFO of Black & Veatch
