| Course Description: Software Design Game Programming- this course uses the exciting field of game programming as a platform for learning fundamental software design principles. In this course, each student will propose, design, build and test a moderately complex video game using proven software engineering practices. The software design ideas discussed and applied during the class will come from three areas: (1) Human Computer Interaction (HCI), (2) Personal Software Process (PSP), (3) software design and implementation best practices. The recommended platform for development is Microsoft¿s XNA Game Studio with C# as the programming language Regular Academic |

| Course Description: Advanced Topics in Wireless Networks - This course covers an overview of possible 4G network architecture. Firstly, it briefly highlights the QoS architecture of 4G that is designed to support 100Mbps of data speed in mobile mode and 1Gbps in nomadic mode. To support user mobility and QoS with multiple sessions, IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) has been proposed from 3GPP and recently started to be deployed. It is expected to evolve towards the 4G network which will have the all-IP architecture. This course also covers the fundamental design issues of cross layering in 4G.
Secondly, this course covers sensor and adhoc networks. They have similar problems in routing and MAC design and power saving as they don¿t have any infrastructure to rely on. As the sensor network is w Regular Academic |

| Comp Sys Design & Architecture (3 credit hours) Zhang Course Description: Computer System Design and Architecture - This course discusses the selecting and interconnecting of hardware components to create a computer that meets functional, performance and cost goals. This course qualitatively and quantitatively examines computer design tradeoffs. This course will cover, for example, how uniprocessors execute many instructions concurrently and why state-of-the-art memory systems are nearly as complex as processors. Prerequisite(s) ECE 428R/ECE 5590ES and a prerequisite knowledge and/or skills of 1) Logic design and Boolean algebra, 2) Assembly and C/C++ language programming, and an 3) Ability to use design tools available on the computer. | Course description: Transmission System Planning and Impact Studies- This course provides the purpose, design considerations, limitations, reliability, and operational constraints of an interconnected electric system. This course emphasizes modeling of generators, transmission lines, series and shunt devices, loads, and their individual operation in load flow and fault studies. The load and fault studies are conducted to determine the operation of the system within prescribed reliability council limitations while enforcing the limitations of the constituent equipment. System grow will be modeled and the impact of new equipment on the operation of the system will be intensely investigated from technical, reliability, operational, and financial perspectives. This course furthers the conc Regular Academic |
